Sunshine Coast ElderCollege in collaboration with the District of Sechelt presents a free non-political lecture series. Behind the Scenes with the District of Sechelt is a two-part series to be held on Tuesdays, September 4 and September 11 at the Seaside Centre, starting at 7pm. The two special evening presentations will provide behind the scenes insights into the structure of local government and the crucial role it  plays in determining the success and well-being of our community.

Municipal Planner Angela Letman helms the September 11 session on Planning and Development. She’ll review the department’s functions and discuss legislation, regulations, the Official Community Plan, permits, subdivisions and more. Manager of Engineering Services Sanath Bandara then steps up to talk about infrastructure planning, land development and site servicing, smart street lighting and accessibility. John Devision, Public Works Manager, will talk about storm drainage, road surfaces, signage, lights, wharves and docks and the wastewater resource centre; Perry Schmitt, Parks Manager addresses parks, playgrounds, ball fields, trails and beach access.
