Recognizing the ongoing stresses and workloads faced by the parents, partners, siblings or devoted friends providing care to loved ones, Sunshine Coast Resource Centre recently launched a Caregiver Support Network to provide emotional support and assistance in connecting with community resources.

Informal caregivers provide a valuable service, contributing more than $26-billion of unpaid labour annually to the health care system. Their loving service comes with a cost to them, as the prolonged stress makes caregivers more susceptible to heart failure, dementia and a higher mortality rate than non-caregivers.

Caregivers are invited to call Program Coordinator Michelle Bruecker at 604.212.1441 or email with their concerns and questions. All communication is confidential.
